This past weekend we made a serious start on our 2015 speaking programme. On Friday we drove to Coventry, having been invited to preach at the commissioning Service of a doctor couple going to lecture in S.E.Asia. On the Friday evening the Chinese church kindly laid on an extra meeting for us to teach on Islam. We were so encouraged by the good number of people who came and the hall was well filled. And they were very receptive to all we taught and so warm-hearted. Then on Saturday I had three seminars on Islam for the Anglican church which had invited us for the weekend. Again, we were encouraged by the numbers of people who wanted to attend these seminars.
Christians in Britain are bewildered as they hear the politically correct talk about Islam and yet also know about the wide-spread Muslim violence and persecution of Christians. In the afternoon Warwick University C.U. also laid on an extra meeting with us to learn more about the uniqueness of the Christian faith in the context of multi-religious Britain. We always very much enjoy our occasional visits to university Christian Unions. They are always stimulating and we appreciate the opportunity of sharing with younger Christians too. On the Sunday I preached at Holy Trinity just next to Coventry Cathedral and we much enjoyed the worship together with a good congregation. At that Service our ex-All Nations couple were commissioned by the church and we all had a time of prayer with and for them. After the Service the church had organised a buffet lunch at which I spoke again about what God is doing these days in the Muslim world. Although we are horrified by the brutal murder and violence in so many Muslim countries, and the blasphemous association of the holy name of God/Allah with brutal evil, we are also excited by the growing numbers of Muslims who are finding new life and salvation in Jesus Christ. Ex-Muslim churches are growing!
During the weekend we also sold 240 of our books, so we trust that the Holy Spirit will use these to reinforce the teaching we gave during the weekend. We pray that there may be lasting fruit for God’s glory from the weekend. Please keep praying for us as our speaking programme continues.
